La Alma at Alma Del Rio – Eco Comfort on the Water

Attentive staff. Delightful stay. Positive: Quiet, beautiful setting in nature on the river. Wild life. Monkeys. Many birds.

An immersion in nature and the warmest hosts to welcome us to Belize. Positive: It was so relaxing and serene. We felt immersed in nature and much care was taken to make the property eco-friendly. Comfortable, climate controlled bedrooms and a warm welcome from hosts. Negative: Part of the magic is it’s a short drive from daily conveniences so as long guests expect to need a lift once in a while, it’s the perfect place. Very communicative and helpful hosts when it comes to transportation and needs that arose.

What an amazing experience! Hadas was an amazing host, and very helpful and informative! She helped us book an amazing tour with Jamal who picked us up for a wonderful jungle pontoon experience, which I highly recommend. She helped us navigate the area with excellent tips on where to go, and what to see. The house itself is AMAZING! The view is even better than the pictures show. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need to cook. We hit the farmer’s market for some wonderful ingredients on the way in! The wildlife is all around you! It is a soundtrack, but totally worth the experience. It’s the jungle what do you expect?! Dora was super friendly, and had we had more time I’m sure her classes and massage are top notch. All in all I was most excited for my island and ocean time, but am leaving Belize most amazed by my jungle experience at Alma Del Rios!

Excellent stay and much attention to detail. Positive: The cabin was lovely. Grounds and access to the river were great. Negative: Occasionally the highway traffic was noticeable from the porch and grounds. Very quiet within the cabin.

Trip was planned for my wife’s 35 bday with extremely short notice. Hadas was absolutely amazing! She assisted me with scheduling multiple events every day of our stay. It’s not often you find someone who authentically cares what their guests think, how their stay was and the time they spent inside the facility. It was as if everyone that guided us on our journey knew of Hadas and her beautiful family! I’ve never been to any other place where I felt welcome and at home as much as I did there, and it was immediate. As far as Alma Del Rio. Absolutely exceptional! Quiet, nestled on the edge of the Macao River in the jungle. I’m a hard one when it comes to being pleased. This lodge and the experience with Hadas, her staff and all of our guides far surpassed my expectations!Also, Dora made the visit even more exceptional which I did not feel was possible. She made the place nice and cozy, cooked an amazing traditional iconic dish for my wife and I. I could keep going and going. Just know you won’t be disappointed in the least staying at Alma Del Rio. And do not forget to bring Alma a gift from whenever you’re traveling from! She will make your heart explode in joy with her authentic appreciation.
